What is a Best Before End date?

If you’re new to this, it may come as a surprise that we sell products past their Best Before End (BBE) date – just as surprising as the prices we offer. The two are closely linked.

A Best Before End date indicates when a product may begin to gradually decline in quality, such as taste, texture, or smell. It does not mean the product becomes unsafe to consume after this date.

Why are our prices lower?

We are able to offer lower prices because the majority of the products we sell are close to or past their Best Before End date.

Chewing gum and confectionery are made using ingredients that remain stable for long periods. This means they can still be safe to consume and enjoyable for months, and sometimes even longer, after the BBE date. While there may be a slight difference compared to in-date products, many customers find the saving far outweighs any minor change in quality.

Best Before End vs Expiry Dates

It is important to understand the difference:

• Best Before End (BBE): Indicates quality may decline after this date, but the product remains safe to consume.
• Expiry Date (Use By): Indicates when a product may become unsafe to consume.

We only sell products with Best Before End dates. We do not sell any products past a Use By or Expiry Date.

Storage and quality checks

All products are stored correctly to help minimise any decline in quality.

We also carry out regular quality checks to ensure the products remain enjoyable and suitable for sale. Having sold over 100,000 items close to or past their Best Before End date, the vast majority of our customers are happy with both the quality and the value.

Clear date information before you buy

The Best Before End date for each product is clearly shown on its product page in a dedicated dropdown section.

• The date displayed is the minimum date you can expect.
• You may receive stock with a better date, but never a worse one.

Before completing your order, you will be asked to confirm that you understand and accept the stated Best Before End dates.
